The Interactive Mirror was an extensive project commissioned to us by NEDAP through the University of TwenteFrieder LochSjoerd Smink and I formed a group called Orange and started researching about the technological possibilities and the objective of our client by commissioning such a big task. Throughout six months we worked together to bring this project to reality. With the supervision and guidance of Mannes Poel and collaboration of Wim Fikkert it was possible to produce such a project. Our prototype had two major iterations and one small-scale evaluation in which we tested the usability and user experience of our system. Unfortunately; because of lack of resources we were unable to place the system behind an actual touch-sensitive mirror. However we achieved to implement a gestural and touch-based interface.

I added an example of our prototype for you to take a look. In addition I added the PDF version of our research document if you want to take a closer look at our methodology and experiments.

In this project I collaborated with most the graphics, design and animations, some of the technical aspects of the prototype as well as some of the research and illustrations in the document. I also got the opportunity to be part in all the experiments. I gained significant knowledge in Software development processes.

Interactive Application

Prototype 3.9 of the Interactive Mirror (SWF): 561kb

Prototype 3.9 of the Interactive Mirror is the Flash prototype of our system. To effectively execute this file you must have Adobe Flash Player enabled in your web browser. The prototype works best on Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

Research Documentation

Interactive Mirror Research (PDF): 13mb

Interactive Mirror Research is a PDF document. To effectively execute this file and be able to read the content you should have a PDF Reader such Adobe Reader. If you are a Google Chrome user you can simply open it right away without having to install anything else.
